Focused Prayer and Fastinjg

Matthew 6:16-18

Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad continence. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you they have their reward. But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

Fasting and prayer are times for reflection, worship, and gratitude carried out on a spirit of quietness–an unseen, and unnoticed activity, kept from the prying eyes of others; an experience to be enjoyed alone with God. Remember that fasting is abstaining from food with a spiritual goal in mind. When we sacrifice food for the purpose of spending time with God, remember that we, too, are on holy ground. We will be in the very presence of Holy God.
.
Steps to focused prayer and fasting:

1. Praying for Far-From-God people by name.
Pray for them to become saved.
Pray for the things that are keeping them from being saved.
` Pray in faith that it is God’s will for them to be saved.

2. Prepare a wallet card, to put in your billfold.
Place the names of three people who you will pray for to be saved.
Put it in the money part with the dollar bills.
Every time you take out or put bills into you wallet pray for them.

3. Stop and pray at noon, every day.
Know that the church is praying with you.
Pray for those on you list to be saved.
Pray for our church that we become a place where people are being saved.

4. The first Wednesday of every month Fast and Pray.
Determine how best for you to fast and pray.
Pray for your church to reach people for salvation.
