God is not Man

              Isaiah 40:25-28 (NKJV)

25 "To whom then will you liken Me, or to whom shall I be equal?" says the Holy One.

26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by

number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power; not one is missing.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel: "My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God"?

28 Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

God is not a man, so that He needs anything. Neither is He limited in any way. People get weary and tired, but God is never tired. There are many things that we don’t understand, but God never has to question anything. God is all-powerful, but we are weak and limited in our strength. God is all-knowing, but we still struggle to understand much of our daily life. God is all wise, but we are foolish and too often respond without thinking. Because He has all power, already knows everything, and understands everything completely, He alone is truly wise, and has the power to make everything conform to His perfect will. Therefore "we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose" (Rom. 8:28).

It may seem strange to us, but God is never surprised, nor caught off guard. He knows all things. God never confronts a problem he does not understand. He is never afraid, nor confused. His power is never limited in any situation. His character never changes and His love for His children never changes. There is nothing that can cause Him to love us any less, and we can do nothing to make Him love us any more. He demonstrated how much He loves us by sending Christ to die for our sins, so He can forgive us and show us His love day by day.

29 He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.

30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall,

31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:29-31) (NKJV)

God is not saying that everything that happens is good. He is saying that He is a faithful heavenly Father who is able to cause even unfortunate happenings to work for good to those who love the Lord. He is that Father that loves us, no matter what happens, and is not surprised nor confused, so as to not know what to do in our circumstances. He lets us learn along the way, but always has our best interest in mind. Because our understanding is limited, we must learn to trust His love for us even when things do not happen as we would like to see them happen, or when He must judge us for our sins.
